Rolling Back Time: The Story Behind the Turn-Up Denim
This season, our Autumn/Winter collection brings back an iconic denim touch: the turn-up suit.
Both the jacket and the jeans feature rolled cuffs, a small twist with a big story behind it. 👖✨
Where it all began
The turn-up has its roots in the early days of denim, back in the 1940s and 1950s.
Jeans were originally made with extra-long inseams so they’d fit anyone; people simply rolled up the hems to get the right length.
What started as a practical fix soon became a style statement, seen on everyone from blue-collar workers to rock’n’roll icons like James Dean and Marlon Brando.
Rolled cuffs became a symbol of rebellion and individuality, part of the effortless cool that defined mid-century Americana.
Later, the trend resurfaced in the ’80s and ’90s, when denim culture went global and every generation gave it their own twist.

A modern reinterpretation
At Kings of Indigo, we’ve taken that timeless look and redesigned it for today. Our new denim set celebrates craftsmanship and conscious design:
- Made from responsibly sourced denim with a soft handfeel.
- Thoughtfully constructed to ensure durability and comfort.
- Finished with a turned-up hem and cuff, stitched to stay in place.
The turn-up detail reveals a contrast tone inside the denim, giving each piece an extra layer of character, bridging heritage and sustainability through design that lasts.

Why we love it
Because style with a story always stands out.
The turn-up represents everything we believe in: quality, longevity, and individuality.
It’s a reminder that even the smallest details can connect history with the present and make your outfit unmistakably yours.
Turn it up. Wear it your way. Always with purpose. 💙
